PART I
With over 300+ different Bible versions and translations, many are confused where the real Word of God King James Bible Cover from 1611 Originalis, and what it says. Although Satan most likely has had his hand in the confusion brought about by all these versions each saying something different, God has kept His real Word pure and undefiled.  Today we can read exactly what He wants us to have in the preserved, inspired King James Bible.

God said He would keep His Word for and with us, and He has done so!
“The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” Isa. 40:8
According to verse seven, the grass is referring to people.  People will come and go, but the God’s Word will always be amongst us.  It will not be preserved verbally, but in written form.
“But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.” I Pet. 1:25  Also: Psalms 102:12, Luke 16:17

God chose to preserve His Word in written form.
“For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” Mat. 5:18   The jot and tittle are referring to diacritical marks of the languages used.  This implies that the preserved word is in written form and that even the smallest detail will be preserved!

Its preservation is essential to our faith.  Why would God require it, if He would not keep it for us?
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Rom. 10:17

Many places in the Scriptures were quoted accurately at a later date by prophets, leaders, rulers, and even Christ. “As it is written” is used in 49 verses, indicating that the preserved Word was trusted at that time.

It is inspired!  “God breathed” into the originals, and He has preserved His original inspiration.
“The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.” Psa. 12:6-7  We have the inspired, preserved Word of God in the King James Bible!

There have always been copies.  The originals have never been gathered together in one place.  There are no originals now! From the beginning God has used and blessed copies:

  • Moses broke the first tablets. God made sure His people had an accurate copy of it. Also, Joshua made a copy of the Law (Joshua 8:32).
  • King Jehoakim  (Jer. 36) did not like what Jehudi read from the Word of God and burnt them.  God again gave it to Jeremiah. Then it was thrown in the river (Jer. 51:63); end of original #2, but we still have it now —  preserved!

Continued in the next devotion!

  1. My first Bible was a small KJV and believe it or not I still have it . Yes I was a child when ma gave it to me . If one looks at some of the bibles before the KJV they will find a lot is accurate do your own research lol . Yet I wonder about the 66 books makes me think of 666 and I have also heard there are more books that was omitted and is in a big vault in Rome to be kept away from the people . Then there have been sites dug up and parts found so we cant be truly so sure we have the whole Bible as I would think it would be like 77 books instead of 66 but that is just pondering on my part .

    1. I just got a post. Apparently they put your name and added an “A” making it Davida. They told me how things were not working on the site. I thought it was you but looked at their web address, and I believe it was a scam or a way to get e-mailed some malicious code. That’s why I have to have the captcha and review everything. I don’t know why people want to do such things.

  2. Bro Brinkworth,
When I was a child/young man, the pew bibles in the church my grandparents took me to were titled…not Holy Bible, but “Good news for Modern Man”. It was a paperback New Testament with Psalms thrown in. It had a lot of cartoon pictures in it and I remember spending many a service piddling around turning the pages and looking at the little inane drawings. I remember that I had a KJV (one that was given to my parents by a Methodist pastor) that I took to church and that I couldn’t ever keep up with what the Pastor was reading. Thankfully, later in life I had the opposite problem…I took my TEV Bible to a church that used KJV and I had the same trouble there. Fortunately, I was at a place by then that stood by the KJV and I was open minded enough to pray and consider what it meant to have A translation.. A standard word of God. I also took some time to study the roots of the KJV and some other versions and understand what a miracle the KJV is! Really it does not matter what the NIV, TEV, NKJV, etc are or aren’t…what matters is .. What the KJV is!

As an adult I wonder what in the world those men were thinking that allowed that to be put in place of the Word of God in my grandparents church? Looking back now I realize some of those people in leadership were doing the best they knew how, others were just silly men like the little cartoons in the books they provided for people to use and had no business leading a church. I have no idea what they were thinking…NOT MUCH, I suspect.

Bro Brinkworth, How did these various versions get so much traction? Did their popularity start in the seminaries? One would think that it must have been the seminaries since the preachers and pastors had to go along with their use?

Thank you for this devotion. I know there are a lot of well meaning people that have not had the opportunity to consider what the KJV is and where it came from. The life and career of King James himself is a miracle in and of itself…. a Scottsman…that was the King of England.. Son of Mary, Queen of Scotts, executed while he was a babe. Raised by one of the most prominent Protestant teachers of his day. Fluent in who knows how many languages..did not need a translator much of the time for official business. A man in a position to force the most distinguished bible scholars the world has known to work together to produce THE Bible.

    1. The Good News for Modern man is a corrupt version that was popular in the 70’s (peace, bro.). It was at that time that liberalism in the pulpit spread. Their intent, as it is often today, was to reach the youth of the day and to put it “down where they could reach it”. All kinds of things were done to make “religion” fit in the youth culture. The GNfMM was some of the fuel for the “Jesus Movement” of that era.

As for how these modern perversion got started, you are correct. The corruption started, in these modern times, with Westcott and Hort in the late 1800’s. The took the corrupt Catholic texts, claimed they were reliable, and used it for the basis of their translation. By studying their lives and works it seems very clear they were not even saved! Yet their work was accepted, and by the early 1900’s their text was commonly relied upon in the Bible colleges and seminaries. From there it has downhill. From some observations I have made, I believe many of the “protestant” churches started to fade to the left in the 20’s and 30’s, right after they started using some of the modern perversions!

  3. Look at what God’s Word has went through down through the centuries (people have tried to destroy it from day one, and men and women have died trying to preserve it) and it’s so disrespected today when people don’t read it and obey it.

    1. Every Christian should read Foxes Book of Martyrs, and they will discover how so many suffered for of the Word of God. They stood by the Book, but today so many change words wherever it serves them, and it means so little to them.
