PART II.
The Hebrews preserved the Old Testament in the Masorectic Text. The New Testament was preserved in Greek in the Textus Receptus. There have been copies of this form since 150 AD.

Different men had a burden that the Word of God be written in a language that the common man could read. Before their work, only certain clergy could read it, and they only told the masses what they wanted them to hear, usually in a language that they did not understand (Latin).

The work of many preserved God’s Word from such men as: Erasamus, William Tyndale, Miles Coverdale, and the six companies of 47-54 (according to different accounts) translators that translated the 1611 King James.

The King James 1611 had several changes done to it up to 1769.  The KJV that most read is the 1769 version.  All of the 400 changes from the 1611 to the 1769 version were spelling and grammatical changes as the written English language developed and became consistent.  Compare those minimal changes to the over 60,000 alterations reportedly changed in the New King James Version from the 1st to the 5th version.

Example of the Earliest 1611 KJV: “For God so loued the world, the he gaue his only begotten Sonne: that whosoeuer beleeurth in him, should not perish, but haue euerlasting life.”  John 3:16  Notice where we used a “v” the earlier language used a “u”.  Also: “I”’s were used as “J”’s,  “f”’s for “s”’s ….
KJV 1769: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Since the beginning, Satan has gotten man to doubt and question the Word of God.  If you doubt it, you will not believe it or live it, which is why Satan has done much to water down, hide, or get people confused enough not to read or believe the Bible.
Gen. 3:1 “ Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” Satan got the first woman, Eve, to question what God had said, and he has been doing the same thing to many people for millenniums.

Even the early church had to deal with Satan’s attack on the Truth.  That attack is continued, even more so, in these last crucial days!
“For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.” II Co 2:17

If the Word is missing or has words changed in it, it is not the preserved Word of God that God promised to keep. ALL modern translations and revisions have changed words.  They cannot be trusted. They are tampering with the Word of God!  They are saying things that God had not!

  1. Hi there! I could have sworn I’ve visited this site before but after browsing through a few of the articles I realized it’s new to me.
Anyhow, I’m definitely delighted I discovered it and I’ll be book-marking it
    and checking back regularly!

  2. Sorry I meant one can copy the verse and then copy the KJV verse and so before it slips my mind ah typos this morning so sorry due to lack of sleep .
Hmm it is also a good thing I keep this site link on my desk top as today I did not receive an email .

  3. Thank you Bill for saying nice things regarding me . Honestly there are times I feel rebellious and say I wont read but then I get a guilt trip or shame if I don’t read as I know in my heart my Father wants me to keep this up and help me with understanding His Way .
Now regarding the subject of different bibles as you know one posts on my FB and I always check to verify things with the KJV I recently came across this site where it is more easily to click links on the top of the different ‘bibles’ also which the KJV is included in the links . So if any see the need to verify something someone says as yes some are sneaky by not saying from what bible they got the information this site may be of use for comparation and one cant copy the verse and then copy the KJV verse and show the difference . Oh yes I do get in a debate at times with the poster on FB . So be for it slips my mind here is the link … http://biblehub.com/niv/matthew/5.htm …. And yes the 1611 KJV version did not have the letter J and used U for V interesting isn’t it ? yet if one truly reads it one can discipter the meaning smiles … Have a good day and I would love to see some comments on the Daily View as this site at the very top has a link for the Daily view .

  4. By the way, I’ve been going through your daily New Testament devotion since Matthew, and I really enjoy it! I’m in Romans now and I pray that others are taking advantage of it as well!

    1. Thank you for the plug. Very few are using it. It was first used several years ago in that format, until I had to remove (and put it in a non-blog format on http://www.OpenThouMineEyes.com) it because of hacker’s destruction. I put it back on here, but fewer are using it. Star, bless her heart, has not missed one day in several years. She is faithful in reading God’s Word every day and comments. I really appreciate her doing so, as people from all over the world may have the same questions she has, but are to shy to ask!

      1. Press on Bro Brinkworth,
I may join you in January. I read a calendar along with others at my church that takes quite a bit of time. I have already decided and bought a commentary my pastor recommended to study Isaiah next year, and will need to have a guide for other reading. I will likely be joining you.

  5. In his commentary on Genesis 3:1, John Phillips said that Eve had a weapon more powerful than Satan – THE WORD OF GOD ” Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shall not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shall surely die.”

Had Eve stood firmly on God’s Word, Satan would’ve been no match for her! But she listened to another “version” of God’s Word from Satan’s mouth and she fell for his lies! When we read other “version”, all we’re doing is listening to Satan’s lies!

Satan was no match for Jesus when He quoted and stood on God’s Word in the wilderness (Matthew 4)!

    Awesome devotion!

  6. I wonder if there are people reading this that have trouble with what you are teaching here Bro Brinkworth?

Folks, We need THE reliable Word of God! If you don’t believe it, do yourself a favor and do what I did. Take your NIV and your KJV and compare the two. First, find out where the NIV came from and where the KJV came from. Next, google or locate a list of the differences between the two and begin to look at the changes and things that are left out from the NIV. You will be shocked at some of the alterations.

    Then, consider this:
    1. If I want to be in the Bible printing business, all the revenue I can ever get from printing KJV Bibles is just what I sell them for. There is no copyrighted content.
    2. If I add a commentary of my own, I can call it David’s Study Bible and copyright that, but I don’t have much because the sale of the commentary depends on my reputation.
    3. On the other hand, If I completely rewrite or paraprhase the text, and call it David’s version, I can copyright that.
    4. If I have a copywrighted version…everyone that quotes heavily or wants to reprint that version has to work out a deal with me whereby I recieve a royalty…now I am out of the printing business and into the intellectual property business and that is a lot bigger deal.

There are all kinds of versions out there. Another problem is how far this goes. If you want to see… take a look at the Cotton Patch Version when you get a chance. It will make righteous anger rise up in you. Suffice to say that it should be enough to convince you that messing with the Word of God is not good.

Face it, the version business is a lot better than the printing business.

Bro Brinkworth, do I have that right?

    1. Most of this version and translation business all has to do with money. As Pastor Mickey Carter says, “When you don’t understand why something is going on, look for ‘George’ (money incentive)”. That is why not one new “bible” is not similar to another, because if it was then they could not get the copyrights, as you said. It’s all about money, not making the Bible clear. In the cases where it is not about money, it is about forcing a godless doctrine down a reader’s throat (i.e. – Jehovah Witness perversion -NWT)). Besides, all the rewriting that could be possibly be done to the Word of God, could not replace the job of the Holy Spirit, who is the only One that can teach the meaning of the Word of God!
