Prayer Requests:

  • Pray for Randy Short, who has not been feeling well for over a month.
  • Barney and Thelma have an unspoken prayer request that they would like others to pray for also.
  • Carolyn Gillett requests prayers that God will open up the right job opportunity for her soon and provide for her needs as she trusts His timing.  She has been unemployed for 4 1/2 months and relies solely on herself for income.
  •  Connee Burton asks for prayers for her husband, Jim, who is under home hospice care.  His cancer has returned, and his kidneys are not doing well.  Prayer for Connee also, as she is caring for him until he is in the presence of our Saviour.
  • Brother Andy needs prayer for a heart problem that doctor’s are not sure what will help him.  Please pray that God will give them the wisdom and the remedy for his condition.
  • Please pray for Deb McCoy’s serious unspoken prayer need, her service dog’s, Roo, health problems, and for her own health issues.
  • Pray for America, her leadership, that righteousness will prevail, and ungodly influences will decline and be exposed.

In The Mud
Author Unknown

When Napoleon invaded Egypt, he encountered a force ensconced in a mud fort that effectually defied all his efforts to destroy it. If it had been built of rock, he could have blown it up with powder, or crushed it with artillery; if it had been of wood, he could have fired it with a rocket and it would have burned.

However, the fort was a huge mass of mud, in which his iron missiles stuck fast, and did little damage. He therefore left the place in despair and turned his attention to more practical targets.

What this mud fort was to the French soldiery, a cold, dead church is to the world of ungodly men. They are effectually protected behind this mass of seeming “religious” carnality, and utterly defy all the moral artillery of the Gospel.

The heavenly missiles stick fast in the intervening obstacle, and never reach their mark because of a cold, damp barrier with no real concrete standards or spiritual authority.  Their man-made religion absorbs much of what is thrown at it, and seldom reacts to godly truths.

A Child’s Answered Prayer
D. L. Moody

I remember a child who lived with her parents in a small village.  One day the news came that her father had joined the army (it was at the beginning of our war), and a few days after, the landlord came to demand the rent.

The mother told him she didn’t have it and that her husband had gone into the army.  He was a hard-hearted man, and he stormed off shouting that they must leave the house.  He “wasn’t going to have people who couldn’t pay the rent”.  After he was gone, the mother threw herself into the armchair and wept bitterly.

Her little girl, whom she had taught to pray in faith (it is more difficult to practice than to preach), came up to her, and said, “What makes you cry, mamma?  I will pray to God to give us a little house, and won’t He?”

What could the mother say, so the little child went into the next room and began to pray.  The door was open, and the mother could hear every word.  “O God, you have come and taken away father, and mamma has got no money, and the landlord will turn us out because we can’t pay, and we will have to sit on the doorstep, and mamma will catch cold.  Give us a little home.” Then she waited, as if for an answer, and then added, “Won’t you, please, God?”

She came out of that room quite happy, expecting a house to be given them.  The mother felt reproved.  I can tell you, however, she has never paid any rent since, for God heard the prayer of that little one, and touched the heart of the cruel landlord.  God give us the faith of that little child, that we may likewise expect an answer, “nothing wavering.”

Wise Words:
