A liberal philosophy has always existed throughout man’s history but rarely has it done as much damage to society as it has done in the last fifty years. Many boast and are not ashamed of having such a philosophy, but its destruction to individuals and the populace is far-reaching.
Webster’s defines “liberal” in many ways. The definitions applied to a liberal philosophy include “not literal or strict, licentious, lacking decorum, unseemly beliefs, favoring changes, progressive, tolerant of other views.” Liberal thinking is usually a value system that deviates from what is traditionally thought to be normal and moral. From a Christian’s perspective, it includes beliefs that reject and want to change moral truths preserved by God in His Word, the Bible.
Any variance from the way God wants a man to believe and live will only lead to an individual or society becoming more immoral and living a lifestyle further from what God demands. The outcome of accepting immorality has never been good for societies of the past. Societies that have deviated from following God’s guidelines have suffered and have usually collapsed, whereas those that have abided by His commandments have flourished.
Over the years, the populace has not discouraged these philosophies that are contrary to what God’s Word says; and in too many cases, the liberal thinking has even been encouraged. Liberal philosophers, politicians, preachers, and professors, whose belief system kept them from being employed in the past, now are given some preferential treatment in getting a job. Although their thinking is often accepted, the price it has cost society is immeasurable. Here are some of the negative changes liberalism has caused our society:
- Where once the morality of the majority of society was in line with scriptural teachings, now the Bible has been banned in many institutions, societies, and even in conversation. In doing so, the standard that says lying, stealing, taking of lives, adultery, homosexuality, worshipping other gods, and other moral limitations are wrong, has been removed. Without God’s standards it is acceptable to have “little” white lies, take things that do not belong to you if you are hungry, kill unborn babies because the mother is not married, commit homosexuality because it is okay to choose any sexual preference you want, and worship anything you want, because you feel better when you do so. Without God’s measuring tool, the Bible, anything goes.
- Leaders, who once would not be able to get a job or be elected if their character or beliefs strayed from biblical teachings are now elected to positions to make decisions that alter society. For example, elected leaders in the United States have passed laws that allow over 4,000 murders of unborn babies every day, removed any mention of anything about God or His Word in public situations (including the Ten Commandments that were posted in many public buildings), public acceptance of homosexual practices (including same-sex marriages), make it a crime if anything is said contrary to their beliefs (“hate crimes”), and countless other laws.
- Liberal religious schools have produced preachers and leaders that have been brain-washed to question and doubt God’s Word. When they stand in the pulpit they instill this doubt in their congregation, and now few under their preaching know what the Bible says, believe it, and certainly do not follow His Word. Because of the liberal infiltration of pulpits, “thus saith the Lord” is no longer instilled in minds. The “fear of God” has been removed from many churches!
- Tolerance of anything, including others’ beliefs, has allowed unscriptural, damaging lifestyles to breed. The depravity of man is now laughed at and accepted in many cases, as there are no longer any standards that say anything is wrong.
- Teachers and professors with little, if any, biblical character and standards are allowed to guide and direct young minds during the majority of their students’ day. How do you think a student’s thinking will be after 12 years of liberal propaganda?
As an old ad said, “We have come a long way, baby.” Unfortunately, the way we have gone is morally downhill, and it is not good — in God’s eyes!
Just because the liberals are confused and do not have any standards, and in many cases are rebellious against God, does not mean that we have to follow and conform to their way of life! We, as Christians, do know where the truth is. We are to be the example many will want to follow. We are to be a light in this dark world. We need to lead biblically, not follow unscriptural pathways. If one by one, we each live our lives according to what God has preserved in His written Word, once again it will be unpopular to think and live contrary to what God’s Word says to do.

Liberalism has taken hold because people don’t check out their church leaders by the truth and standards of God’s word ( the KJV). They trust in man instead of God. They are blindly being led by the blind. I’ll dare say that a lot of people dont bring their bibles to church or they leave them at church. The bible in alot of homes is collecting dust. It’s an ornament to them. Just part of the decorations.
You are 100% right. If more people would be saved, and read and obey their Bible, we would less liberalism and more strong Christianity!
Reading Websters definitions in Paragraph 2 again….A liberal is “tolerant of other views”. I disagree with Webster there. I think history proves me correct that they are intolerant of other’s views. We are the people who have been tolerant.
Stalin a liberal…yes… he and his ilk were not very tolerant. Hitler and his were not very tolerant. Libs in this country are anything but tolerant.
The fact is that liberals like to pay lip service to tolerance, but will react violently to anyone that opposes their viewpoint.
I would have included violent in my definition. If you don’t believe that…look at history at what happens anytime a “liberal” government reaches the breaking point.. gross bloodshed is imminent.
One cannot reconcile with liberal thinking. There is no way to meet halfway on most of the things they want. We cannot have abortion lite for example. We either have it or we dont. They will not accept the latter and will react violently if pushed. As conservatives, we established the precedent long ago of allowing them a little beach head here and there…what we have created is the equivalent of a home with a spoiled brat kid that has learned that Mom and Dad will back down.
You are 100% correct! Liberals are the most intolerant group of people today! If they were tolerant they would not tearing down statues, protesting, and tearing apart anything that appears against their usually ungodly philosophies.

While some in opposition to liberalism resonate their voice through social media, there is a remnant of others that still stand firm on Scripture and are not ashamed to speak up and disagree with poor ethical character and morals represented by the liberal agenda. I have encountered war on words by several that believe I am wrong for not accepting the propaganda of immorality. I don’t appreciate their opinions; however, I will not be silenced. If it comes to obeying God or seeking acceptance of others, I choose to stand with the Lord every time.
Amen! As a nation, we got into the mess we are in because a lot of good people, that know better, said and did nothing about the liberal propaganda and agendas.

Liberalism in our society has taken root strongly, leading to the further decline of this once great and eventual fall of this great nation. How I pray that “We the People” will rise up and defend our country with the same biblical principles that it was founded upon. Now is the accepted time!

Amen, sister! However, at this point, whoever cries wolf is branded “hater”, “bigot”, “racist”, “Fox News fanatic”, “Tea bagger”, “homophobic”, or any other name they can make up to make the one with some moral principles look like the one that is wrong.

A liberal is someone who professes to tolerate all others, but despises God and God’s people while venerating any false religion or doctrine they can find because it validates them.
A liberal is someone who, while tolerating others and their culture, if ever stirred up retaliates with intense hatred.
A liberal is someone who does not want any one to have a gun except their body guards.

Amen! Amen and amen! The destruction of our nation is due to those that won’t speak out against or stop the liberal philosophies and their agendas. The toleration of such rebellion against God has cost us more than most of us can add up!
