Count Your Many Blessings!

Praying woman.

”Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.” James 4:2

I intend for this devotion to be different! Instead of my writing about the things of God, I would like ALL to send something (brinkworth@frontier.com) that God has done in their lives; particularly telling of their answered prayers.

When people read of others’ experiences with answered prayer, they often do not make the connection with their own lives. They often do not look back and remember or recognize what the Lord has done for them. Some have never honestly seen Him work in their lives, or have never had answered prayer.

Hopefully, if all (and if you cannot write anything, it may bring some conviction to have a closer walk with God in your life) write (to brinkworth@frontier.com) about an answered prayer it will:

  • Give God the honor and glory for what He has done in your life.
  • Help others see that God is alive and working in lives today, and can work in their lives also.
  • Encourage others to increase their prayer time.
  • Encourage some that may not be children of God, to trust Christ as Saviour so they can also have answered prayers.
  • Give others hope and a way out of the situation they may be in — God’s way with His help!

So,  don’t just sit there!  Write what God has done in your life, or the answers He has given to your prayers!  I’m excited and anxious to hear what God has done in your lives.

(Make as many comments as you would like. The more the merrier, as it will show that He is working in so many lives and in so many ways. To God be the Glory!  You can e-mail them to me at brinkworth@frontier.com.  They may be included in the daily e-mail ministry.)

  1. God is so good to me…..Thank you Lord Jesus for healing and the Love you have freely given me!!! Most important answered prayer the day Jesus saved my soul Thank you Jesus!!

  2. I think that there are times in life when we get overwhelmed and don’t thank God for the little blessings that He gives us. When I think about how much He blesses us it makes me very thankful. Even when there are problems in life He gives us peace that passes all understanding. I’m thankful for the peace that our Heavenly Father gives us Christians. God bless.

  3. I try to do a lot of landscaping on the side when I can to help pay for our bills. About a month or two ago our A/C went out and it was $140 to fix. We had about $200 in our savings but we were about to go on a little vacation and didn’t want to spend that money until we went on vacation. It was Thursday and the next day we were going to be headed out. I went to check the mail and my parents sent us a check for $140!

Our money is always tight, and about a month ago it was 10 days until we were going to get paid again. We had about $50 in our bank account and we still had to buy groceries and pay a bill. I was working landscaping for my brother in law and the total for me working came out to be about $60. Well when I got home to look at the check he gave me, he paid me $150, which God allowed to be stretched out until we got paid again.

My wife’s sister in law’s father is a Pastor of a local church here and he was recently diagnosed with cancer, cirrhosis of the liver, and he has 2 kidney stones the size of bouncy balls. Long story short, he had to have a catheter put in and he had it taken out on Wednesday of this week. The doctor told him that if he couldn’t use the bathroom by 2:00 pm on his own then he was going to have to go back to the hospital and not schedule a surgery he is needing. Well, at 1:58 pm he was able to use the bathroom!

It’s amazing to hear the song “little is much when God is in it” and experience the truths of that song. God is more than capable of keeping us feed, clothed and sheltered. His mercies are new every morning!

    1. Thanks for sharing that fantastic story of God’s grace and provision! I, too, have experienced God doing similar things for us, too. He always keeps His promise of providing His kids needs! Praise God for who and what He is!

  4. We owned our own business and things were tough. The economy had slowed down and my husband didn’t want to lay anyone off. We had 2 lumber bills due in 2 days totalling over $9,000,00. We just didn’t have it. I laid the bills on my desk and prayed, (Lord you know we’ve tried to be on time and pay our bills but there’s not enough money to pay these. I’m not sure what we’re gonna do but here they are. Would you please help us and make a way.) Before the day was over my fax machine had went off, someone had made a purchase at one of our sales lots and the price was just a few dollars from what we needed. It was enough to pay those bills and keep our workers busy. God is so good.

  5. Well this is a first time for me to ever leave a comment on a public board. I’m 39 and been raised in a Christian home all my life. A blessing so many others have not had. I don’t know where to start. Lol God has answered so many prayers for me and my family. One that really stands out to me was one of my hardest trials. Someone (a friend I might add) had done me very wrong and tried to destroy my family. I’ve always been taught to forgive, forget and go on. But this was one that eat at me more and more each day. It consumed me. I couldn’t eat, sleep or do anything but cry. I not only suffered but also my husband and family. One night my husband n I were up most all night praying for deliverance. About daybreak as the sun was just coming up the Lord spoke words to me. (The dawning of a brand new day.) If you are familiar with the Bible it says, His mercies are new every morning. From that moment on the burden was lifted and the precious power of forgiveness came in. I was able to forgive as my Heavenly Father had forgiven me.

  6. Lets try this once more after trying too many times earlier . ..
Father has helped me in many ways
    1. came in my heart as a small child
    2. renewed faith as a teen
3.got baptistzed as a young woman
    4. has saved my life more than once actually warned me
5.has helped me keep a roof over my head and food on the table and such …
earlier I had gone into more detail but since the number thing would not let me post it kept saying it is wrong ha as if I cant add and such I gave up . Besides I decided not to go into the glory details of some things I have endured most of my life as it is best just God knows . God bless all of you .

  7. Bro. Brinkworth,
God has been so good to me in my life I hardly know where to begin. Not only has God answered specific prayers, but He has also answered many general prayers where I could only cry, “Help me, Lord!” not knowing how to put my need into words.
*God answered my prayer for forgiveness and salvation when I was 11 and now I’m a child of the King!
*God answered my prayer for a good (great) husband and three wonderful, healthy children.
*God answered my prayers to save my children, all of whom are saved and are living for the Lord.
*God answered my prayers for a good, Godly spouse for my oldest daughter, and I know He will answer my prayers for the same for my son and my younger daughter when the time comes.
*God answered my prayers for a good, Bible believing, Bible preaching church to attend and to raise my children in.
*God answered my prayers for pastors who not only preach the Word of God without fear or favor, but also live out God’s word in their daily lives and pour that into my family strengthening my walk with the Lord and helping to train up my children in the Lord.
*God answered my prayers for healing of a broken heart when something unexpected happened in my family that grieved me deeply.
*God answered my prayers, along with those of many others, for healing of a brother in our church – God opened his blinded eyes! He actually had a part of his optic nerve surgically removed, but God restored his sight!!!
*God has answered the cries of my heart when I didn’t even know what to pray and has given me peace and joy in my life.
*God answered my prayers for a way to not have to put my children in daycare years ago. In fact, He had started the answer to that prayer before I even knew I was going to have the need to pray by guiding me on a career path that would allow me to work at home and stay with my children and homeschool them. I have been blessed to raise my children myself and homeschool all three of them AND still contribute some extra income to the household.
*God answered my prayers for provision when my husband quit his teaching job in order to expand his electrical business and three months later I had to quit my job (see above) because we were losing our next door neighbor babysitter. At the time, we had two house payments because we had built a house and had not been able to sell our old house. We also had student loans, car payments, and numerous other living expenses. God not only provided, but he blessed abundantly more than we could have imagined. He made provision for us to not only pay our bills, including two house payments, but to be totally debt free within seven years! Only God can do that!
*God has had His hand on my life since the day I was born, leading me and guiding me even when I wasn’t following Him with my whole heart like I should.

As the Bible says in John 21:25: “And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.”

I am so abundantly blessed. I give God all the praise and glory for each blessing and each answered prayer! As the song says, “I call Him Holy, Righteous, Faithful, Awesome, Healer, Savior, all that and so much more!!”

Thank you for giving opportunity to give praise to the Lord for His faithfulness in answering prayer and pouring out His blessing upon me. I don’t want the rocks to cry out in my place!

    Blessings!

  8. Years ago I was working at a bank. Heard Kroger was hiring, applied and was hired. Ninety days later ther was a trucker strike so it affected out store. As a young mother, I panicked. The few weeks I was laid off the unemployment checks were more than my paycheck at the bank.
18 1/2 years ago my sons wife told him many lies about our family. In order to hold his marriage together he quit seeing us. A year and a half ago, she surprised him with divorce papers. We have our son and brother back in our lives. (Never give up praying. The answer my just be ‘not yet.’)
I was working on bills Tuesday and being on a fixed income, sometimes it does not stretch. This month was bad because of some unanticipated needs. I asked the Lord for help reminding Him I do not want to be a bad testimony. Last night I received a call from a neighbor needing a sitter today snd next week! Sometimes the answer comes right away.
God is in control. He is good all the time.
Thank you for the opportunity to share His blessings. I could go on for hours.

  9. In the 22yrs I’ve been working, I’ve never been laid off from work. There was some real close calls, but I’ve never had to stand in the unemployment line! Last August, the company I was working for shut down and filed for bankruptcy. They laid everybody off BUT me and one other person! They wanted us to stay a few months until everything was ready to shut the doors for the last time.

I knew my job there would soon end, so me and my wife began to pray that God would open the door up for not just another job, but a better job than what I had. Two months later, I was offered a job with better pay and outstanding benefits! I resigned the company that was about to shut down on a Friday, and was working at my new job the following Monday! I didn’t miss a day of work during the transition!

    God definitely answers prayers!

  10. I had been praying for a woman’s serious health issues. The doctor’s prognosis was not good. Her diabetes was often out of control. Her kidneys were doing poorly and she had other physical problems. To add to all she was going through, she had a terrible financial situation that did not look very promising.

I know many others had a burden for her. They prayed. I prayed. If I couldn’t sleep, she was one of the first I prayed for. For weeks I prayed.

Last week I got an e-mail claiming that her kidney situation had improved. Her scary financial was fixed. One time she even received an unexpected check from someone that helped with one of the problems. At times, she did not even have to take the medication for her diabetes.

She still has the other health issue, but if God took care of the those matters, I am sure He knows about the other one and will handle it the way He sees fit! God is always so good! Thank you Lord!

  11. Bro Brinkworth,
There is no way in any space someone could/would read that I can recount the way that God has had his hand in my life and blessed me in every way, any attempt is likely feeble at best.

    Maybe list form is best.
    1. I am blessed that Jesus is my Savior and that I was saved at a young age.
    2. I am blessed that as a young adult that He saw fit to take back a prodigal son.
    3. ….that he has and is sanctifying me.
    4. …..that he filled me with The Sweet Holy Ghost.
    5. ……that God gave me a wonderful wife that is a help to me, is a beautiful Holiness sister, a wonderful mother, trusted counselor, and best friend.
6…… that He gave me 3 great kids…and a great Son in Law. Andrew, Evelyn, Jonathan, and Sarah. They all love and serve the Lord and are a blessing to me.
    7. ……that I am able to live in victory over the things that would beset me otherwise.
    8. …..for the fact that God placed this soul where he did, with the family he gave me to, and in the country and address within that country where I reside.
    9. ……that I was raised in church.
    10. ……that God has surrounded me with Brothers and Sisters that would swing into hell on a thread and attack the devil with a water pistol…and win!
    11. ….. that I attend a church that teaches the Bible with people that seriously make every effort to live it’s precepts, where Christ is first and flesh is last, where people are healed, delivered, saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost.
12….. That I have a Pastor (actually Pastors) that preaches to me without fear or favor, who lives for God, and makes every attempt to live a Holy life before God and man. A man that, while flesh, is clearly called out to be a shepherd that I can count on to tell me “thus sayeth the Lord”.
    13. ….that I and my family have enjoyed excellent health.
    14. …..that God has provided for us in an abundant way.
    15. …..that God gave me a Grandmother that helped raise me who was a Christian. She is one of the few of my family I know today that I will see over the river. She greatly influenced me in the things of God.

For these things and much more I give Him the glory and credit. I just want to be pleasing to Him.

I could go on for more than you would care to read. I appreciate this opportunity. I think it is good to sit down often and go over the things the Lord has done for us and give Him praise for it.

Bro Bill, you mentioned prayer. Noone can be a successful Christian without Prayer and Reading the Word of God and I think it would be very difficult to go on without regular (when the doors are open) Church attendance. I also think that Holy living is so important.

If there is anyone reading this that is not in a church where you feel challenged to step up constantly, I urge you to find one where the King James Bible is preached and taught. It probably will not be the big fancy one downtown… you may feel a little bit odd on the beginning. You may find the Pastor to be odd. They may be meeting in a store front or a little church building on the outskirts that isnt very fancy. It will probably have a name on the sign that might include: tabernacle, holiness, independent, missionary; you know…THOSE people! The people may not be the country club set, they will certainly look different and act different than the world. Please find that church, get in, immerse yourself in scripture and prayer and watch God use you and bless you.

    1. What a blessing! God is so good…. keep them coming … I’m tired of godless people claiming there is no God … when He is so real and alive in our lives … they need to be saved, so He becomes their spiritual Father!

  12. As a Christian, elementary school teacher, like all teachers, I had to make a class bulletin board. I came up with an idea that I used every year.

If I was going to teach them anything, I was determined to make sure the children learned that God was real and answering prayers. On the 4’x6’ bulletin board, I decorated the background with the brightest colored paper I could find, and across the top, I cut and pasted letters saying, “God Answers Prayer.” I then cut out an outline of a child’s hand and pasted one for each child in the class on the board. In the center of each “hand” I wrote each child’s name. Underneath each “hand” I thumbtacked a small, lined white paper about 3”x 5”.

On the first day of school the children liked how I decorated my room. They particularly liked the museum I always had for them to examine when their work was done up in the front of the room. Soon, all’s attention usually went to the odd-looking bulletin board with blank papers hanging under a paper hand with their name on it.

After they were all good and curious, I explained my plan. “If you learn anything from me this year, I want you to learn that God is real and answers prayers. I want you leave your seat, get the paper under your name, take it to your seat and write at least one prayer request that you want our God in Heaven to answer. Each day before class, I want you to go to your prayer list and put a check mark next to your prayer request, if God has answered your need.” Each morning we will pray for at least five people’s needs.

Each student did as they were told, and returned it to their spot on the board. Every morning we prayed for several of the children’s needs. It was not before I would see students go to their list, and put a little check mark next to their request.

It got more exciting. Soon the board was cluttered with checkmarks. Some came up requesting another piece of paper to tack over their original (I would not let their original prayer list be removed). God was answering prayers, and it was evident and exciting. By the end of the year, I had the messiest bulletin board in the school, but no one dared tell me to clean it up. It was quite evident that God was alive and answering prayer!

Thank you Lord for showing yourself so real to those young people. God is always so good!
