Psalm 58 reinforces what most instinctively know about themselves; we trespass God\u2019s commandments.\u00a0All are guilty of iniquity. None are free from that plague on all mankind.<br><em>\u201cAs it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:\u201d Romans 3:10<br>\u201cFor all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;\u201d Romans 3:23<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many think God is only concerned about the \u201cbig\u201d sins, like murder, adultery, and robbery.&nbsp;This Psalm lists transgressions that are often ignored and receive little attention and concern. However, they are still in violation of God\u2019s laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many iniquities that are not addressed and not thought sinful are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Failure to speak righteously (Psalm 58:1),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Judging others (Psalm 58:1),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wicked hearts (Psalm 58:2),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Violent actions and thoughts (Psalm 58:2),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lying (Psalm 58:3),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A venomous tongue (used in deceit, backbiting, spreading discord \u2014 Psalm 58:4),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And not listening to wisdom, common sense, or reason (Psalm 58:5).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The writer wanted God to intervene in the sinner\u2019s crimes against God and make it so they would not continue with their damaging sins (Psalm 58:6-9). Many times, we feel the same way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We can be firm and judgmental of others and desire God\u2019s judging wrath poured out on them, but we forget one thing.&nbsp;We, too, are sinners and guilty of transgressing God\u2019s commandments.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If we are saved, trusting in Jesus\u2019 death to pay for our sins gets our iniquities forgotten and forgiven.&nbsp;However, we still sin.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We should be glad that God gives us mercy and does not give us what we deserve each time we break His commandments.&nbsp;Why can we not be merciful and not judgmental of others when they violate God\u2019s laws?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Today\u2019s Thought:&nbsp;<\/strong><br>\u201cWe hand folks over to God&#8217;s mercy and show none ourselves.\u201d \u2014 Eliot<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Words to Understand:<\/strong><br>Altaschith: It is believed that it could be the opening words to a popular song at the time.<br>Deaf Adder: it is believed to be a copperhead-type snake<br>Michtam: poem<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Today\u2019s Reading:<br><\/strong><em>Psalm 58<br>1 To the chief Musician, Altaschith, Michtam of David.
