He knew the only way they could be defeated was with God\u2019s help.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.devotionsfromthebible.com\/dvblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/King-David-238x240.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The king had the Lord on his mind as he meditated (vs. 1) on the situation. We see that he desperately cried out to the Lord (vs. 2.) and prayed to Him in the morning (vs. 3).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As much as David was troubled by his adversary\u2019s sin, he knew God was aware of their iniquity and would not tolerate it.&nbsp;Their foolishness (vs. 5) and dishonesty (vs. 6) would also be dealt with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The trouble surrounding the leader would not alter his faithfulness to the Lord.&nbsp;He still worshipped the Lord and was waiting on the Lord to make His will clear to David (vs. 8).&nbsp;There may have been chaos surrounding him, but he had peace within.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>King David shared his faith and confidence with others who may be in a similar predicament. He encouraged them to \u201crejoice\u201d and to be joyful as they would see their mighty Protector defending them against their foes. He learned from experience that the righteous would be blessed and kept safe (vs. 12).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We can also have David&#8217;s assurance.&nbsp;God will protect the righteous.&nbsp;Live the way God has commanded, fret less, and wait on the mighty hand of God to preserve His own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Today\u2019s Thought:&nbsp;<br><\/strong>As a chorus line in a child\u2019s Sunday school song reminds us, \u201cEverything will be alright in my Father\u2019s House.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Words to Understand:<\/strong><br>Abhor: extreme hatred<br>Iniquity: sin, crime<br>Leasing: falsehood, lying<br>Nehiloth: wind instrument<br>Sepulchre: a place where a dead body is placed, grave<br>Transgressions: violation of law or commandment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Today\u2019s Reading:<\/strong><br><em>Psalm 5:<br>1 To the chief Musician upon Nehiloth, A Psalm of David.
