It was not a parable; it was a real account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While in this world, the rich man had many of the niceties this life can offer.&nbsp;However, one crucial thing was missing in his life.&nbsp;He did not have faith in God and, because of it, when he opened his eyes in the next life, he found himself in Hell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus\u2019 account of the rich man\u2019s life in Hell shows us more of the terrible abode of the unrighteous.&nbsp;We learn that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hell is down. The occupant of Hell looked up to see a righteous man who had also died.<br><em>\u201cAnd in hell he lift up his eyes \u2026\u201d Luke 16:23<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hell is a place of torment (Luke 16.23). Also, in verses 25 and 28.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Those in Hell think.\u00a0They remember and recognize some from their past.<br><em>\u201c\u2026 and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.\u201d Luke 16:23<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Those in Hell suffer from thirst.\u00a0There is no water there\u00a0(Luke 16:24).<br><em>\u201c\u2026 send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue\u2026\u201d Luke 16:24\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There are flames in Hell.<br><em>\u201c\u2026 for I am tormented in this flame.\u201d Luke 16:24<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Those in Hell do not want others to be there (Luke 16:27-28).<br><em>\u201cThen he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father&#8217;s house:\u00a028 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.\u201d Luke 16:27-28<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This account of a man\u2019s agony in Hell should convince all to keep from that dark, lonely, terrifying place. One can escape an eternity there by trusting Jesus\u2019s payment for all one\u2019s sins.\u00a0If you were to die today, tomorrow, or one hundred years from now, are you positive you will go to Heaven and not Hell?\u00a0You can know for sure!<br><em>\u201cFor God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.\u201d John 3:16-18<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Today\u2019s Thought:&nbsp;<\/strong><br>\u201cDon&#8217;t let scoffers laugh you into Hell; they cannot laugh you out of it.\u201d \u2014 D. Moody<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Words to Understand:<\/strong><br>Abomination: vile; disgusting<br>Esteemed: thought highly of<br>Mammon: fleshly desires; worldly cravings<br>Steward: employee; servant<br>Sumptuously: luxurious; living well<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Today\u2019s Reading:<\/strong><br>L<em>uke 16<\/em><br><em>1 And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods. <\/em><br><em>2 And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward.<\/em><br><em>3 Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed.<\/em><br><em>4 I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.<\/em><br><em>5 So he called every one of his lord&#8217;s debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord?<\/em><br><em>6 And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty.<\/em><br><em>7 Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore.<\/em><br><em>8 And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.<\/em><br><em>9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.<\/em><br><em>10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.<\/em><br><em>11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?<\/em><br><em>12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man&#8217;s, who shall give you that which is your own?<\/em><br><em>13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.
