He is forgiven, and his sins are forgotten. Inwardly, there should be differences.<br><em>\u201cSet your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.\u201d \u00a0Colossians 3:2-3<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our old ways are dead and hidden (Colossians 3:3), as far as God is concerned. We are to bring our bodies under subjection (\u201cmortify\u201d \u2013 Colossians 3:5) and no longer let sin control our lives (Colossians 3:5-10). We should put our \u201cold man,\u201d what we used to do and be, far away from us.<br><em>\u201cAnd have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:\u201d Colossians 3:10<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are new creatures in Christ (II Corinthians 5:17) and can have a fresh start. We have a \u201cnew man\u201d (Colossians 3:10) that we should put on and strive to spiritually, with God\u2019s goodness and help \u201cwear\u201d well!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our new attitudes and actions should strive to be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Holy and dear to God\u2019s heart (Colossians 3:12).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Merciful to others, as we have received much mercy from God (Colossians 3:12).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kind\u00a0(Colossians 3:12).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Humble\u00a0(Colossians 3:12).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meek\u00a0(Colossians 3:12).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Longsuffering (Colossians 3:12).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Willing to put up with what others do to us, again and again (\u201cforbearing\u201d \u2013 Colossians 3:13).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Forgive what others do to us and to others.\u00a0God certainly has forgiven us thousands of times. Why can we not forgive those that have wronged or offended us (Colossians 3:13)?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Loving and caring to all \u2014 unconditionally (Colossians 3:14)!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Peaceful to one another (Colossians 3:15).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Thankful (Colossians 3:15, 17).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ruled and guided by God\u2019s Word (Colossians 3:16).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submissive to authorities God says are over us (Colossians 3:18-22).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It would be impossible to do all God has told us to do as new creatures in Christ and not be happy and content.\u00a0When we allow the \u201cold man\u201d to be temporarily resurrected, we often have problems. When our old ways come back, they rob us of the peace and joy that should be ours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Has the \u201cold you\u201d gained control of your life again?\u00a0Ask the Lord to forgive you and help you regain what is yours \u2014 the new, changed you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Today\u2019s Thought:&nbsp;<\/strong><br>\u201cFeed the new man, the spiritual man, and he will grow stronger daily.&nbsp;Do not feed him, and he will suffer from spiritual malnutrition.\u201d \u2014 Author Unknown<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Words to Understand:<\/strong><br>Admonishing: correcting; encouraging<br>Concupiscence: controlling desire; sexual cravings<br>Inordinate: out of control; more than is normal or right<br>Malice: intentionally purposing to harm others<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Today\u2019s Reading:<\/strong><br><em>Colossians 3<br>1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.<br>2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.<br>3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.<br>4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.<br>5 \u00b6 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:<br>6 For which things&#8217; sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:<br>7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.<br>8 \u00b6 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.<br>9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;<br>10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:<br>11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.<br>12 \u00b6 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;<br>13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.<br>14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.<br>15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.<br>16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.<br>17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.<br>18 \u00b6 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.<br>19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.<br>20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.<br>21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.<br>22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:<br>23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;<br>24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.<br>25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Daily Nugget:When a person is saved, his whole life should change.
